My grandfather          alone in the countryside, but now he________with us in the city.

A.used to living; is used to live B.used to live; is used to living

C.used to live; used to live D.was used to living; used to live

答案:
B 【解析】 句意:我爷爷以前一个人住在乡下,但现在他习惯了和我们一起住在城里。 考查used短语辨析。短语used to do sth.表示“过去常常做某事”;be /get used to doing sth.表示“习惯做某事”;be used to do sth.:某物被用来做某事,是短语use sth. to do sth.的被动语态。第一空是过去一个人住在乡下,用used to do的形式;排除A、D;第二空表示习惯做某事,用be used to doing,排除C。故选B。

社会责任——环境保护

When throwing away trash, do you know which bin it should go in? Some of you might not be able to answer this question. But it's very important to know how to deal with your waste. Not knowing how to deal with waste is harder to save energy and protect the environment. If you don't deal with your garbage, all of it will go to a landfill (垃圾场) and be buried together. These landfills can take up large areas of ground. The electronic waste you throw away can pollute the soil and groundwater. In fact, some pieces of garbage can be used to make other things if they are properly recycled.

Now, many cities in China have taken actions in recent years. For example, Shanghai announced in July that the garbage should be divided into four groups: recyclable, harmful, wet, and dry.

Paper, metal, glass and other things that can be reused are recyclable waste.

Harmful waste includes things like medicine, batteries and fluorescent bulbs (荧光灯泡). These things are not recyclable.

"Wet" waste is also known as household waste. "They are things you don't want but that pigs can eat," Guangzhou Daily explained.

Some waste such as plastic bags, beer bottles and other manmade things will go into the "dry waste" bin.

Many other Chinese cities, including Shenzhen and Guangzhou, plan to use this way to deal with their garbage. Let's encourage each other to deal with our waste well by sorting it to protect the environment.
